About us
How it all began
We, the founders of the organisation, have been volunteering in various projects in Africa for over 10 years. Our first experiences were gained in projects in Ethiopia. Later we were active in Northern Uganda.
In various projects, in orphanages and in a school project, we have been able to solve a variety of technical problems on site by providing advice, financial support and, above all, manual labour.
Through years of direct and personal co-operation with the people living there, we have developed an intensive knowledge of and sensitivity to the local situation.
In Uganda in particular, we realised that the majority of young people are unable to pursue a regular job. There are many young people who have no training of any kind.
We want to change that.
We want to give young people a good foundation for a dignified life without hardship - that is what our organisation stands for as a ‘Workshop for Life’!
Our aims
Unser Verein "Moyo Afrika - Werkstatt fürs Leben e. V." unterstützt Jugendliche in Uganda in ihrer Ausbildung, um eine fundierte Lebensperspektive zu bekommen.
Dadurch sind sie in der Lage im eigenen Land für sich selbst und andere zu sorgen. Zudem schaffen sie sich die Möglichkeit, ihren Platz im sozialökonomischen Gefüge zu finden. Als Folge wird nachhaltig gefördert, dass sie ihre erlernten Fähigkeiten in ihrem Heimatland konstruktiv einsetzen. Damit wird ihnen die Basis für ein würdevolles und selbstbestimmtes Leben gegeben. Der Anreiz dieses woanders zu suchen, und sich auf einen lebensgefährlichen Weg zu begeben, wird dadurch vermieden.
Daher ist die Schaffung von Ausbildungsplätzen notwendig, weil es nahezu keine gibt. Wenn überhaupt dann nur bei sehr wenigen Konzernen, die nur für den Eigenbedarf ausbilden. Aber auch diese Stellen stehen dem „normalen“ Bürger meist nicht zur Verfügung, da durch Vetternwirtschaft und Korruption diese Ausbildungsmöglichkeiten nur unter der Regierungselite aufgeteilt werden.
Es wird schon gar nicht über den eigenen Bedarf ausgebildet. Ausbildung bedeutet Aufwand und kostet vor allem Geld. Bei der dort herrschenden Einkommenssituation, ist dies von den meisten Werkstätten ohne Unterstützung nicht zu leisten.
Our organisation ‘Moyo Afrika - Werkstatt fürs Leben e. V.’ supports young people in Uganda in their education in order to give them a solid perspective on life.
This allows them to care for themselves and others in their own country. They also have the opportunity to find their place in the socio-economic structure. As a result, they are encouraged to use the skills they have learnt constructively in their home country. This gives them the basis for a dignified and self-determined life. The incentive to seek to look for this elsewhere and embark on a life-threatening journey is thus avoided.
This is why the creation of apprenticeships is necessary, because there are almost none. If at all, then only in very few companies that train exclusively for their own needs. But even these jobs are usually not available to the ‘normal’ citizen, as cronyism and corruption mean that these training opportunities are only shared out among the government elite.
There is certainly no training for their own needs. Training means effort and, above all, costs money. Taking into account the current income, most workshops cannot afford this without support.
Who is supported?
In particular, young people in need of help who are in a precarious life situation due to various circumstances.
Workshops that are only able to offer qualified training services thanks to our support. This lays the foundation for enabling young people to receive training in the first place.
How is support provided in detail?
1. Trainees are also provided directly and personally with work clothing that meets the minimum safety requirements. Sponsorships are arranged to support the welfare aspect in particular: Housing, food and personal hygiene (soap, detergent). Completion of the training is transparent and takes the form of a state-recognised examination. They receive a certificate that gives the young people the best chance of finding employment. This enables them to earn their own living as skilled workers.
2. We support workshops directly on site through donations in the form of construction, counselling and teaching materials. Specialised training in the various areas requires tools and equipment, teaching materials, computers and online seminars. We, the members of the association, also act as teachers. We impart knowledge to the trainees, and in some cases also to the trainers.
